Yes Virginia, they really do exist.

So here's the story. The family of a trauma victim, a motor vehicle collision, is met outside the ICU by a lawyer saying that that particular vehicle in which they were traveling has a defect and he and his firm would be happy to represent them. The family never contacted this lawyer, or any lawyer for that matter. He just showed up out of thin air.

Does it really matter if the driver of the vehicle is intoxicated and the vehicle is traveling at over 100 mph?

Apparently not to this attorney.

Congrats go the Karolee Sowle. Our fearless COO now has the official title of CEO, a job she has been doing exceptionally well for the past year. I just heard the rumor today but have no official confirmation.

Many of you might have noticed that the units and floors are preparing for a soon to be announced JCAHO visit. Make sure you dot your I's, cross your T's, and don't use any standard, traditional medical abbreviations.

Dr. Jack Nevins passed away last weekend. He was a member of our medical staff for over 50 years.

Jack will be sorely missed. Desert Hospital was certainly Jack's "home away from home."

The new on-call agreements with EA Health began on July 1st. Along with the new agreements are some new On-Call forms. The new form is linked to in the sidebar. Just download and print it.

BTW, for those of you who are going to participate in the call schedule, please fill out your service agreements and send them in.
